About Laal Singh Chaddha:

Produced by Aamir Khan Productions and Viacom18 Studios, it is a remake of the 1994 American film Forrest Gump, itself an adaptation of Winston Groom’s novel of the same name.

Laal Singh Chaddha is a 2022 Indian Hindi-language comedy-drama directed by Advait Chandan from a script by Eric Roth and Atul Kulkarni.

The film stars Aamir Khan as the title character along with Kareena Kapoor, Naga Chaitanya (in his Hindi film debut) and Mona Singh.

Aamir Khan, with the help of Los Angeles-based producer and director Radhika Choudhary, bought the film rights in early 2018 and officially announced the film with its title on March 14, 2019.

The Forrest Gump adaptation underwent several changes over a period of two decades, with Kulkarni spending the first ten years adapting the script and ten years acquiring the remake rights.

The film’s score is by Tanuj Tiku, while the original lyrics were composed by Pritam, and his lyrics were penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya.

The film was originally slated for a theatrical release on multiple dates in 2020-2022 but was repeatedly delayed due to production halt due to the pandemic and on August 11, 2022, on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan and Independence Day. was released theatrically worldwide.

Laal Singh Chaddha was shot in over 100 Indian locations. Filming began in October 2019 and ended in September 2021 after several delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It opened to mixed reviews with criticism of Khan’s performance. Despite its £180m budget, the film grossed less than £90m worldwide in its first week and was declared a box office bomb.
