About Morbius:

It is distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing and is the third film in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (SSU). Directed by Daniel Espinosa and written by Matt Sazama and Burke Sharpless, Jared Leto stars as Dr. Michael Morbius with Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Al Madrigal and Tyrese Gibson.

Morbius is a 2022 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name and produced by Columbia Pictures in association with Marvel.

In the film, Morbius and his surrogate brother Milo become living vampires after recovering from a rare blood disorder.

After announcing plans for a new shared universe of films inspired by characters such as Spider-Man, starting with Venom (2018), Sony began development on a film based on Morbius.

Sazama and Sharpless had written a script by November 2017, and Leto and Espinosa officially joined in June 2018.

There have been several attempts to bring Morbius to the big screen since 1998, including joining the Blade franchise and producing a solo film by Artisan Entertainment, none of which ever came to fruition.

Work on the film later began with more casting sessions before production began in London in February 2019.

Filming was confirmed to be complete by June 2019, and re-shooting will take place the following February in Los Angeles.

Morbius premiered on March 10, 2022, at Plaza Carso in Mexico City and was released theatrically in the United States on April 1, 2022, changing several times from the original July 2020 date, mainly the delay was due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It received largely negative reviews from critics, with criticism for its writing, visual effects, and scenes after the credits, although Smith’s performance received some praise.

The film grossed $163 million worldwide and became the subject of various internet memes.
