About Sultan movie:

The film focuses on Sultan Ali Khan, a fictional wrestler-wrestler and former world wrestling champion from Haryana whose successful career has left a rift in his private life.

Sultan (translated “King”) is a 2016 Indian Hindi language sports drama film directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. Produced by Aditya Chopra under the Yash Raj Films banner, the film stars Salman Khan alongside Anushka Sharma as the title character.

Sultan Ali Khan is a middle-aged local wrestler and former wrestling champion who lives a reclusive life in Rewari, a small town in Haryana. Akash Oberoi, the founder of a private mixed martial arts league endorsed by Mr. Patel, is encouraged by his father to recruit him to salvage Sultan’s popularity.

The film was released worldwide on July 6, 2016. It has grossed £623.33 million ($93 million) worldwide and is the 10th highest-grossing Indian film of all time.

After traveling to Haryana, he makes Sultan an offer of recruitment, which he categorically refuses, stating that he has retired from wrestling entirely. While searching for the reason for his resignation, Akash meets Sultan’s close friend Govind, who explains how Sultan’s career began.

The two marry and become recognized wrestlers representing India in various international sports.

Determined to gain his respect, Sultan dedicates himself to intense training and eventually wins a state-level wrestling tournament as well as Arfa.

In 2008, Sultan fell in love with Arfa Hussain, the daughter of a state wrestler and local wrestling coach. Though initially cold towards him, she accepts Sultan as a friend. When he claims they are engaged, she insults him, saying that she will only marry a well-trained wrestler.

Ali Abbas Zafar is an Indian film director, producer and screenwriter. He is best known for directing Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (2011), Gunday (2014), Sultan (2016), Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) and Bharat (2019).

Zafar is a graduate of Kirori Mal College in New Delhi. He married Alicia Zafar, an Iranian living in France, on January 4, 2021.

The film revolves around a young man (Imraan Khan) who is looking for a bride (Katrina Kaif) for his older brother (Ali Zafar) only to find that he has fallen in love with him himself.
