No Time to Die is a 2021 spy film and the 25th film in the James Bond series produced by Ian Productions, starring Daniel Craig in his fifth and final take on the fictional British MI6 agent James Bond. It was directed by Gary Joji Fukunaga from a screenplay by Neil Purvis, Robert Wade, Fukunaga and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Lea Seydoux, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Christoph Waltz, Rory Kinnear and Ralph Fiennes reprise their roles from previous films, while Rami Malek, Lashana Lynch, Billy Magnussen, Ana de Armas, David Tencic and Dolly Benzela also star. In No Time to Die, Bond leaves active duty with MI6 and is hired by the CIA to track down a kidnapped scientist, leading to a confrontation with a powerful enemy.
Construction began in 2016. It is the first Bond film to be released by Universal Pictures, which acquired the international distribution rights after the contract with Sony Pictures expired following the release of Specter in 2015. Global digital rights and televisions; Universal also holds the worldwide rights to physical home media. Danny Boyle was originally in charge of directing and co-writing the screenplay with John Hodge. The duo left in August 2018 due to creative differences and a month later Fukunaga was announced as Boyle’s replacement. Most of the actors were signed by April 2019. Principal shooting took place from April to October 2019. Billie Eilish sang the theme song “No Time to Die” while Hans Zimmer composed the music for the film.
Development on No Time to Die began in early 2016. In March 2017, screenwriters Neil Purvis and Robert Wade – who have worked on all of the Bond films since The World is Not Enough (1999) – were contacted by the producers Barbara Broccoli to write the screenplay. Michele G. Wilson. Purvis and Wade drew the story for the film in 2017. Sam Mendes said he won’t be returning after directing Skyfall and Specter. Christopher Nolan refused to direct himself. By July 2017, Yann Demange, David Mackenzie and Denis Villeneuve were qualified to direct. In December 2017 Villeneuve decided not to fill the role due to his commitments with Dune.
