About Ram Leela:

Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela (translated as “A Dance of Bullets: Ram-Leela”) or simply known as Ram-Leela, is a 2013 Indian Hindi-language tragic romantic action film which It was written and directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who also composed its original soundtrack.

The film was co-produced by Bhansali and Kishore Lulla of Eros International; It stars Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh.

Priyanka Chopra had a cameo role in the song “Ram Chah Leela”.

Bhansali conceived Ram-Leela while working on his directorial debut Khamoshi: The Musical; The project had to be postponed due to insufficient budget.

The supporting cast includes Supriya Pathak, Richa Chadha, Sharad Kelkar, Gulshan Devaiah, Barkha Bisht Sengupta and Abhimanyu Singh.

Based on William Shakespeare’s tragedy Romeo and Juliet, Ram-Leela narrates the unfortunate romance between two lovers of the same name, who belong to opposing factions but fall in love with each other.

The film’s scheduled release date of November 15, 2013 was stayed by the Delhi High Court. The film, originally titled Ram-Leela, was changed to Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela in response to a court order to release it on a scheduled date.

After the revival of the project in 2012, Padukone and Singh were cast in the lead roles over several other options. Principal photography began in Gujarat before moving to Rajasthan.

It received positive reviews, with praise for the performances of the cast, especially Padukone and Singh.

Despite not having previous plans, most of the filming was done on set. The background score was composed by Monty Sharma, while the lyrics were penned by Siddharth-Garima.
