About Student of the year:

Student of the Year is a 2012 Indian Hindi-language romantic comedy drama directed by Karan Johar, written by Rensil D’Silva and Niranjan Iyengar, based on an uncredited story by Johar and under the banner Hiroo Yash Johar. and produced by Gauri Khan.

As Johar’s only directorial venture without Shah Rukh Khan, who nonetheless produced and co-produced him, Student of the Year was released across India on 19 October 2012 and was one of the top-grossing Bollywood films of 2012.

It received mixed reviews, with praise for the performances of the three lead actors and the film’s music.

A standalone sequel, Student of the Year 2, directed by Punit Malhotra, released on May 10, 2019, starring Tiger Shroff along with debutants Tara Sutaria and Ananya Panday. Alia Bhatt gave a special appearance in the film.

Dharma Productions and Red Chillies Entertainment. The film stars debutants Sidharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan in lead roles, and Rishi Kapoor, Sana Saeed, Ronit Roy, Sahil Anand, Ram Kapoor and Farida Jalal in supporting roles.

Rohan “Ro” Nanda is a handsome, popular boy in college and the son of his trustee, tycoon Ashok Nanda. Ashok wants him to become a businessman like his elder son Ajay and dislikes his passion for music. Shanaya Singhania, a rich and very popular college girl, is his girlfriend.

Former Dean of St. Teresa College Yogendra “Yogi” Vashisht is seriously ill and is on his deathbed. He asks the students to look at his last group. Some of them accommodated him, blaming themselves for making the feudal dean sick. The film then moves to a flashback set ten years ago.
