About Black Widow movie:

Black Widow is a 2021 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is the 24th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Set after the events of Captain America: Civil War (2016), the film sees Romanoff on the run, forced to deal with his past as a spy and broken relationships long before he became an Avenger.

Directed by Kate Shortland from a screenplay by Eric Pearson, the film stars Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff.

Black Widow alongside Florence Pugh, David Harbour, O-T Fagbenl, Olga Kurylenko, William Hurt, Ray Winstone and Rachel Weisz.

Johansson was cast in the role for several MCU films, beginning with Iron Man 2 (2010), and began discussing a solo film with Marvel.

Lionsgate Films began development on a Black Widow film in April 2004, to be co-written and directed by David Hayter.

The project did not move forward and film rights to the character reverted to Marvel Studios by June 2006.

Filming took place from May to October 2019 at Pinewood Studios in Norway, Budapest, Morocco, England, and Atlanta, Macon and Rome, Georgia.

It is the first film in Phase 4 of the MCU and has been delayed three times from its original release date of May 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Work began in late 2017, with Shortlands being closed in 2018. Jack Schaefer and Ned Benson contributed to the script before Pearson was hired.

Black Widow premieres worldwide on June 29, 2021 and is released simultaneously in theaters in the US and on Disney+ with Premiere access on July 9.

Black Widow broke multiple post-pandemic box office records and grossed over $379 million worldwide.
