16 of 2016

A friend of mine posted ’16 of 2016′ on Facebook…16 pictures that summed up the year as a whole and the nice things that had happened during the year. I’d been wondering what format my New Year blog post should take and decided to steal it!

We began the year with one of my favourite ever days. It was Little L’s first experience of snow and we went to the BMX tracks near my Auntie’s to sledge and build Snowman. He wasn’t too keen on the sledging, as you can see from the picture, but he enjoyed everything else.

We decided that we would start having a Sunday morning walk somewhere to begin out only family day of the week…I have to say, it didn’t last, but I love this picture of my husband and son at Sandal Castle. A place that holds many memories from my childhood.

This photo is rare! Around the table from my husband at the back then, to the left, my mum, niece Molly, niece Evie, sister Laura, brother in law Russ, Johndad and Little L. Sunday lunch together which we swore we would do every few months but then life gets in the way and everyone gets busy.

For the hubby’s birthday I surprised him with a night away at a hotel with spa treatments and a meal. It was a well earned break from his busy life managing the family restaurant and much needed quality time for us both. Saying that, I think the thing we enjoyed the most was getting a full nights sleep!

Another of my favourite pictures of the year. Three of my most favourite people, my two nieces and my son just before the Easter Egg Hunt began at my sisters. Little L adores these two.

A rare night out for myself and the life partner in wonderful Wakefield! I can’t remember what the occasion was but it was fun, as anything is with this one.

Reunion with some of the great people we met on honeymoon! We travelled down south and it was Little L’s first road trip and stay in a hotel. He did really well and made us feel more confident about travelling with him. 2017 brings a holiday with three of the couples to Lisbon!

Little L’s 2nd birthday, my 32nd and Father’s Day all in one day! We had his party at Cloud 9 Playgroup in Ossett, including a bouncy castle and lots of fun was had by all.

I adore this picture! Pure happiness in his face at Pugney’s In Wakefield, playing on the newly built Pirate Ship play area. One of the last days with my good friend who moved to Instanbul: you can read her blog here.

One of the biggest things to happen in 2016 was our holiday to Australia. The run up to it was an anxious one but when we were there, we had the most wonderful time ever. These three created a bond that was beautiful and I got to spend time with a life long friend.

In addition we had four days in Sydney where we spent our time with my brother and nephew who live in New Zealand. Precious time with family members and I’m really proud I took the photo above!

Blackpool! A weekend away with the Life Partner and our good friend S for her birthday. She conquered her fear of rollarcoasters, we ate crap and had a night out. It was lots of fun and much needed time away from real life.

A highlight of the year! Little L meeting Huddersfield Town mascot Terry The Terrier for the first time, as well as meeting a couple of the players, at the Town Fireworks Display. Such a fun night and magical to watch L see fireworks for the first time.

A nights stay in Ruswarp near Whitby with Janma and Johndad where a reminisced about times gone by in this post.

My three Sisters from other Misters and the Core Four, it’s difficult to get all four of us together without the kids so afternoon tea with these three was appreciated, fun and much needed!

Christmas…and what’s better to here on Christmas Morning than your son says “This is the best bike ever!” even though it’s slightly too big for him!

So there you go, 16 pictures from the year 2016. I’m not going to lie, it was difficult to pick just 16 and it’s made me realise how many fun things we done/experienced this year.

It’s hard to forget my melt down when we booked our holiday to Australia, or when I was nominated for a blogging award!

I was so pleased with the final result of decorating Little L’s bedroom in April however transferring him into a Toddler Bed wasn’t as easy as we thought! Our final parenting hurdle of 2016 has been Potty Training which, unfortunately, we’re still not done with yet, although things are much better than when I wrote that post.

As much as I wish I had more time to devote to my little space of the internet, I am pleased that my twitter and Instagram followers are slowly increasing although 2017 will be spent attempting to increase my Facebook likes (please help me!). I’ve had the opportunities to work with ace businesses such as Love The Sales (1 and 2), Strap Stop, Caketoppers and Baker Days which I hope will continue to develop next year. I also got to collaborate with lots of lovely bloggers in my Featured Blogger series and worked with Hooray for Moms too!

Previous years have been life changing: 2013 when we got married and 2014 when Little L arrived but 2015 and 2016 have seen the Roversi’s settle into family life. We’ve had our fair share of hurdles to jump and bumpy roads but I’m hoping 2017 will be a positive one for us.

Happy New Year to you all, and thank you for giving time to my blog. It really is appreciated.

Lots of love for 2017,
