The lovely Gemma of ColleysWobbles tagged me in her post “The Daddy (ColleysWobbles) Tag”. The tag was created by Frenchie Mummy and allows us to hear from our lovely other halves. To be honest, I’m a bit of a geek with stuff like this and love doing the tags – in fact I did “The Mummy Tag” a while ago so it seems only right that the husband gets ago.
The Daddy within the Roversi family is 35 year old Riccardo (known as Ric to me, occasionally a few other choice names depending on helpful he’s been!) Here he is:
The saying “Ships passing in the night” sums up our relationship therefore I have to take the opportunity when it arrises to actually speak to my husband for a period of time longer than five minutes. Luckily I was tagged in this on a Sunday which is our only day together, so I jumped on him (not literally – he wishes) while I could. Here are his answers…
Are you a Stay At Home Daddy or a Working Daddy?
Definitely a working Daddy, the amount of hours I work! I’d love to be a Stay At Home Daddy (At this point I asked him to hang on as it’s the next question!)
Would you have it any other way?
No actually, I’d get bored at home and end up watching all the junk on the TV every evening. (He obviously has no clue about what Stay At Home Mummy’s and Daddy’s do!) But it would be nice to spend more time with the family.
Do you co-change dirty nappies? Even the very smelly ones?
When I’m in the house, yes. Although if it was a poonami, I would call for back up because it was never a one man job!
A little fairy gives you the possibility of breastfeeding? Are you going for it or do you run away?
Run away! My nipples are too hairy for that.
What is the one must-have item for a daddy?
A baby…(Obviously thinks he’s hilarious!)
How many kids do you plan on having?
Another one…two in total. I think that three would be too much to handle, I’ve only got one pair of hands and I don’t like the idea of the parents being outnumbered.
Lads’ nights? How often do you have them?
I think I’ve seen more unicorns in my life than I’ve had lads nights out recently. I can’t juggle work, family and going out so nights out are few and far between. I’d like to go out every now and then but my sleep is more important.
Your children’s favourite achievement?
His speech. We are told that he speaks incredibly well for a two year old.
What is your best memory with your kids?
There are so many good memories, it’s hard to think what the best memory would be. Horse riding in Australia was amazing – he was so brave and confident on a huge horse. However, our day at Barnsley Metrodome swimming was brilliant.
Name one thing you miss since being a daddy?
Layin’s (I nearly refused to write that as he still gets them.) Nights out.
Weight gain, before pregnancy, during, after and now? And we mean YOU DADDY, not the mummy!
I put some weight on during the pregnancy but I lost it in the March after. In fact, I lost so much in a short space of time that i went to the doctors because I thought something was wrong. (he managed to lose two stone which doing anything – this made me dislike him a little!)
Dream holiday with your kids?
It has to be Disneyland – everyone wants to go to Disneyland. It’s magical for adults and kids.
Dream holiday without your kids or even without the other half? (You’re allowed to dream)
A beach paradise island with the wife. Relax, have a drink and actually spend time together. (We’d kill each other after four days i reckon.)
How has your life changed since having kids?
It’s calmed down a lot: no going out and coming in at 6am, however it’s a lot more fun and rewarding.
Finish the sentence “It makes my heart melt when…”
…my son holds my face and gives me a kiss.
Favourite beers brands and football team?
I like watching football but I don’t have a team that I support. The opposite of my wife who is a Huddersfield Town fan and encouraging our son to be the same. Beer brands? Tipopils, Microbrewery from North Italy and Hop House 13.
Huggies or Pampers?
Neither, we use Aldi.
Have you always wanted kids?
Best part of being a dad?
Watching them grow and their personality come out. Them making you laugh.
So there you go…I had to be extremely selective regarding the pictures i chose as he’s a little like Chandler from friends when it comes to smiling for photographs, although his is a weird closed mouth smile compared to Chandler’s teeth showing attempt.
