Half way through 2016! Where does time go?! Anyone else feel like someone puts your life on fast forward when you have a child?
June marks the birthday of both myself and Mini R and I’m VERY proud to say that Franca from A Moment with Franca has agreed to be my Featured Blogger this month! I feel like it’s an awesome early birthday present.
Despite running her blog for only a year, Franca has achieved so much and I genuinely feel like I’m featuring a celebrity! She is a blogger I have a lot of respect for and whom I admire greatly. She writes interesting and engaging posts and I love seeing where her blogging takes her. Franca is a big inspiration to me, hopefully one day I’ll have more time to develop Educating Roversi as much as she has with AMWF.
Every Sunday Franca runs #KCACOLS (Keep Calm And Carry On Linking Sunday) which I try to link up to weekly. She’s a fab host and I’m honoured that she has featured me a couple of times when I’ve commented a lot. If you’re looking for a good Linky, #KCACOLS is definitely one to check out!
So here she is, the lovely Franca!
1) Tell me a little more about your family…
I’m originally from Peru but I have been living in London for 11 years so I definitely feel now that the UK is my home. I met my husband Nick at work here in London. We were initially “best friends”. We had so much fun together. This is what I like the most about him: how much he makes me laugh. He was always the one who would be there for me if anything happened to me. Our love story started when somehow I ended up being homeless and needed a place to stay until I was able to find a place to live. In the meantime Nick, my hero (LOL) let me stay with him until I could find a new flat. I moved to his place and we were really good roommates. His rental contract was due to end so we agreed that it would be a good idea to keep being roommates. 😉
We went flat hunting together looking for a 2 bedroom flat. Of course in the meantime, during this process things changed and we started to be more than friends. Typical right? Well, when it was time to move to our new flat we ended up moving but instead of being in separate rooms we were together in one room so we gained a spare room, LOL! To cut the story short we started as best friends which developed into something more after living together.
We married two years after that and within 2 years we had Bella. She has just turned 6 years old and is now desperate for the tooth fairy to visit since getting a wobbly tooth. Then almost 2 years ago we had our little Sienna who is now 21 months and is a super social toddler. That makes our family of 4. 🙂
2) What are the main themes of your blog?
My blog is a Parenting and Lifestyle Blog. I like to write about the things that happen in our family but mainly this blog is a family project. We are all involved in some way. Nick oversees all the technical parts and helps with the editing of the videos. Bella and Sienna are my little helpers too and of course are my beautiful models. I love working with the girls. This blog is as much theirs as mine so being able to spend some time together reviewing a toy or attending family events is just fantastic. I love to be able to offer these opportunities to my family.
We have put a lot of effort into our YouTube channel and we are really trying to build and grow it as much as we can. We love making videos and we certainly have so much fun with them. This has become an important feature in the blog.
3) Why did you begin your blog?
I was made redundant in 2012 and since then, with the support of Nick, I became a SAHM. I was actually very happy to be able to be around my eldest daughter all the time and I felt lucky to be able to see her grow up. In the meantime I got pregnant again with my second daughter and I was able to enjoy the time with both my girls. When my youngest was about 7 months old and her schedules were more manageable I thought about doing something alongside being a SAHM. I always love making videos so I started my YouTube channel, A Moment With Franca. The name came after thinking that it will be me sharing with my followers some moments of my life. Alongside my channel, my blog, also called A Moment with Franca, was born in May 2015.
4) What’s your favourite thing about blogging?
My blog has just turned 1 year old (on 28th May). Since I started blogging it has been the most rewarding experience! I have had the most amazing opportunities and I have met so many people within the blogging world, some of who I can even call my friends now. It is just a beautiful community.
Blogging for me is my passion, something that I’m so glad I found as I enjoy doing it so much. I was worried that I was getting closer to my 40’s and that I would not find anything that fulfils me in my life in this way. I can now say that I’m 39 years old and I feel completely happy!
5) What’s your favourite ice cream and why?
My favourite ice cream is a chocolate tipped cone with 2 different flavours: hazelnut and pistachio. I love hazelnut because its like having nutella ice cream. You can tell that I have a sweet tooth right? The pistachio is because my mum always had that as her favourite flavour of ice cream so since I was little I developed the same love for it. I almost always choose one of them if I can’t have both.
6) What was the best holiday you’ve been on and why?
The best holiday I have been on was when I was 21 years old and my mum kindly decided to take me for the first time to Europe to do an amazing mummy-daughter trip. I will never forget this trip. My mum and I have always been very close so being able to visit the main european countries with her was the best holiday in my whole life. I have so many lovely memories from that trip.
We did a tour in a bus, visiting so many countries. It was a long time ago but the countries I remember visiting were France, Italy, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary and our last stop was Spain.
7) You run a Linky #KCACOLS, what’s the best and worst thing about being a Linky host?
The best thing about being a Linky host is the possibility to start a small community of people that want the same as you which is to meet new bloggers, read fantastic and interesting blog posts, interact with others and of course give support to each other. I really see KCACOLS as a generous and beautiful community. The people really get involved and love commenting. KCACOLS is all about commenting. I really want people to have lots of comments. I always try my best to motivate people to do this.
The worst thing about being a Linky host is the hours you spend dealing with it. It is very time consuming! It is definitely hard work to be a host of a linky. There is a lot of admin behind it and you need to be super organised.
8) If you had to eat one meal forever, what would it be and why?
As a good Italian (I have an Italian background) I love Italian food, so I would be happy to eat most typical Italian foods forever but if i have to chose just one meal I would have to say pasta. There are so many ways to prepare and eat pasta so there is no way you can ever get bored of it. If I was to then have to chose a specific pasta dish, I would have to say ravioli filled with ricotta in a mascarpone sauce! So yummy! I’m hungry now just thinking about it, LOL
(Franca – if you ever come to Leeds, please visit our family ITALAN restaurant! I’ll make sure my hubby looks after you and they make an amazing spinach and ricotta ravioli!)
9) Snog, Marry, Avoid – Robbie Williams, Olly Murs and Justin Bieber?
Oh no this is a difficult one as I don’t think I would like to avoid any of the them. It is so funny as maybe a year ago I would have said straight away that I would avoid Justin Bieber but recently after his latest album and seeing him maturing much more I have developed a secret crush about him and I have become a belieber! Just reading this back makes me laugh but it is true so now I would probably snog him, LOL! I hope Nick is not reading this, haha!
From the three options I would probably marry Olly Murs. He seems from all of them the most genuine and down to earth guy. He is definitely the type of guy who would probably make me laugh which is what I like in a husband. Hence why I married Nick 😉
This leaves me with Robbie Williams to avoid! Which obviously I wouldn’t as I think he is great too. I think I’m rubbish at this game!! NEXT …LOL
(Being Robbie obsessed, I cannot understand avoiding him, however I would struggle to pick between the three! Ha ha!)
10) Which city have you never been to but would love to go to? Tell us why.
I would love to go to Los Angeles. I have only been in San Diego on that side of the US and have always wanted to visit Los Angeles. That part of the US is definitely on my to do list. I would probably also combine a visit to Las Vegas with this trip as it is not that far away, so it would be silly not to go there too.
I think there is so much to see and visit in Los Angeles. It is a city full of celebrities so you might always be wondering if you will bump into one! Of course it will never happen but it is nice to dream a little bit right? LOL
