April’s Featured Blogger: Maggie from Maestro Mummy

I’ve been waiting for April with baited breath! Why? Easter holidays – two weeks with my boy (if I don’t count the couple of days I have to go in for rehearsals) and some extra time with the husband for good measure.

This months Featured Blogger is Maggie from Maestro Mummy. Maggie and I share a common ground in that we are both trained as teachers and within the same department of Performing Arts, her: music and me: drama. She has a lovely little girl called Jemima and a very new little boy, Joshua. To be honest, I’m unbelievably impressed that she managed to get her interview to me and continue to publish posts when she has a newborn – Super Mummy or what? Her latest post ‘My Experience of Hypnobirthing‘ is a very interesting read and something I’ll definitely look into more when I’m brave enough to have a second child! As with my other Featured Bloggers, you can also follow her on Twitter and like her on Facebook. If you’re looking for tips and ideas on how to get creative and musical with your little ones then Maestro Mummy is the blog for you!

1) Tell me a little more about your family…

My husband and I have a beautiful daughter who is now 21 months old and we have just welcomed our son into the world! He was born on 1st March and is the perfect addition to our family.

2) What are the main themes of your blog?
My blog is all about being a mummy with a creative twist. I do lots of craft activities with my daughter and post step by step instructions so you can try them out too. I am a musician so I also blog about music. I review products and post about child friendly outings.
3) Why did you begin your blog?
I wanted to create a record of all the activities I did with my children, as time passes so quickly! Jemima and I love doing craft activities together and other people were interested in trying them out too, so I decided to make that a feature of my blog.
4) What’s your favourite thing about blogging?
I love connecting with an amazing network of other parent bloggers out there and sharing ideas and moments. It is also a brilliant record of activities with my children.
5) Which “mum” item can you not live without?
For my newborn, it would have to be my Close Caboo sling and a plentiful supply of muslins! I also love the PacaPod Changing Bag and would recommend it to anyone!
6) Have you ever been subjected to, or played an April Fool? Tell us about it!
I don’t think I have I’m afraid.
7) What’s your favourite thing about Spring?
The weather getting warmer, days becoming longer and the trees getting greener!
8) What’s the best piece of advice anyone has given you?
The world is your oyster!

9) What are you most looking forward to in April?
I am looking forward to my little boy turning a month old. It will be amazing to see how he develops and how he continues to bond with his big sister.
10) Do you have any secret talents?
Yes!
(Obviously she’s keeping them secret!)
Thank you so much to Maggie for being my Featured Blogger this month. It’s been lovely to get to know you more. Pay her a visit at Maestro Mummy or Twitter.
