The Post I Wasn’t Going To Write…

It’s Saturday night, just after half 8, and I’m just thinking how crap the TV is tonight when I get a tweet…as you can see from12919919_610074715806350_369154282936955228_n my response, I was pretty shocked.

Up until now I haven’t mentioned the MAD Blog Awards on Tots100.

Why?

Well, let’s be honest, there are MILLIONS of blogs out there in the huge vast space of the internet, a huge percentage about parenting which my blog focuses on mostly, with a few other things thrown in for good measure. There are men and women who spend hours developing their blog: researching posts, promoting, tweeting, liking, commenting and sharing.

Educating Roversi has been running for just over a year and, as much as I’d love to spend more time working on it, I don’t physically have the time so I do what I can when I can and hope for the best. Let’s be honest, if I have the choice between marking and blogging, I’d rather do the latter but unfortunately, I have to prioritise the marking! Between being a mum, teacher, wife, friend, daughter etc, blogging has to sit in the background quietly, being patient and waiting for the time when we can have a few moments together.

FACEBOOK HEADER

I love my little blog. My little part of the internet. I love how it has helped me connect with many other people around the world and giving me support and advice in the world of Motherhood. However, when it comes to the MAD Blog Awards, I thought I’d see how it developed for another year before putting myself forward for it. The fact that someone has took time to nominate me has blown my mind and made me very happy. It might just be one nomination, it might be a friend or someone I don’t know but, the fact that someone thought my blog was worthy of it, makes me very proud.

So here it is, the post I wasn’t going to write: if you like what I write, when I find time to write, please consider nominating me for the MAD Blog Awards (Mum, I know you read these!). I’d be happy with any category but I suppose I fit into the  ‘Best Pre-School’, ‘Best Lifestyle’ or ‘Best New Blog” categories best. The five bloggers with the most nominations go through, plus one that is selected by the Tots100 judging panel – that might be Educating Roversi! All I need is a nomination or two to be seen. I’ve done my bit and nominated a few of my favourite already.

I’m not the most consistent blogger, nor am I the best writer in the world, but I love what I do, my family and career that inspire it and I’d really, REALLY appreciate it.

So to the person who did nominate me – thank you, you made my Saturday night. Those you that haven’t, click on the picture below…please?! 🙂

UPDATE 06-04-2016. Since writing this, I’ve been nominated for several other MADs including lifestyle, Best New Blog, Best Blog Writer, Best Preschool Blog, Blog of the Year & Best Baby Blog. THANK YOU! You have to be in it to win it right? If I was offered the chance to go as a nominee, I would be over the moon!

  3. I really relate to this. Being a fellow teacher, I understand how hard it is to find time to do anything blogging related when you are both a teacher and a parent.
I think you need to remember when it comes to blog awards and “rankings” that it is a bit like a “best sellers” list of books – just because something is popular doesn’t mean it is to everyone’s taste, and an “unpopular” book will still have people who love it. You should be very proud of your blog, and I really hope you do well – I have everything crossed for you!

  8. Ah what a lovely post, so nice to hear your genuine surprise. I’m really glad you’re going for it…you love what you do and that’s lovely. Have you checked out BiBs as well?…they shortlist ten in each category with five chosen by judges so even more of a chance if big votes aren’t the route you’re going down. Go for it and good luck! #sundaystars
