Since life became sh*te when we went back to work, okay not completely sh*te, well maybe a little…our NCT/Bumps and Babies group have struggled to all get together. Handfuls of mums and babies yes, but not all nine babes plus nine mums so we decided to have a Christmas Party, and a few of the dads made it too!
I came across Cloud 9 Playgroup in Ossett by chance on Twitter and, after looking at their website and Facebook page, thought it would be the perfect venue! They do a range of party packages but we decided to “Make Our Own” hiring the room for three hours and all the toys in it and adding music, disco lights and food for the nine children. This all came to an affordable £6.50 each!
The range of toys within this one room was enough to keep the kids happy for the three hours we were there and probably many hours longer if we had stayed! I liked how they had everything from a baby corner to sensory items, wooden toys, annoying electronic toys (that I’ll hate by the end of Xmas day), musical instruments, soft toys, books and more. The list is endless! I’m glad we chose the music and lights, although the kids didn’t interact with them much (apart from the odd one doing a random dance) is added to the atmosphere.
What I liked most about Cloud 9 was the fact that the room was big enough for them all to play, but not so big they’d get lost and it was very safe and well designed so I, and the other Mum’s, were able to watch our children be independent, exploring their surroundings, and we were able to have a chat and catch up too!
Yana, one of the owners, was so friendly, informative and it was a pleasure to be there. They even organised a game of Pass The Parcel for us which was a lovely the surprised and the chocolate lollies were the only way we could attempt to take a group picture of them! As you can see, it wasn’t that successful!
However the one with the Mums was a little better!
The food we had ordered as part of our party went down really well with the kids, Mini R even ate a sandwich and he’s sometimes a bit fussy with them!
As you can see little S was loving it!
The attention to detail made it extra special with snowman crisps and snowman/snowflake sandwiches – perfect for our Christmas themed party. It was nice that they’d thrown in some healthy stuff in the form of carrot sticks, cucumber etc although I don’t know about the others but I think Mini R focused on the mini sausages and party rings! Ha ha!
It’s safe to say we’ll be returning to Cloud 9 and I hope that, year after year, we manage to continue to have our Christmas Party and our children grow together.
Me and Mini really enjoyed ourselves.
