This week has been manic! It a lot of ways it feels like it’s flown by but when I think back to last weekend…well that seems like ages ago!
So what have the Roversi’s been up to?
On Thursday night my lovely eldest niece babysat for L whilst the husband and myself travelled to Sheffield City Hall to watch Darcy Oake: Edge of Reality, the live tour. Mr Oake was on the 2014 Britain’s Got Talent and came second!
My husband is a massive fan of any magic or illusions (we’re going to see Dynamo in December too!) so we booked tickets with his birthday money. I’ve never seen anything like it before so wasn’t sure what to expect but it was truly mesmerising! I really liked that Darcy didn’t take himself too seriously and there was a lot of comedy within his show. His big illusions were just as impressive as his slight of hand and the fact that he an attractive, muscly tattooed man was an added bonus for myself! My favourite trick involved the main man himself being trapped in a human sized box with a steel wall which he managed to wiggle himself through and out of the box. Throughout the trick we would see him making his way out bit by bit – weird and very impressive!
After the show, as we were making our way to the front door, someone pushed into me and I was just about to tell them not to be so rude when Darcy Oake appeared next to me! He was doing a meet and great so I made the husband buy me a programme so I could get it signed and got in the queue to get a selfie (not my most attractive!) and have a little chat with him. Just as gorgeous in person and a genuinely lovely guy.
It’s obvious that work is back in full swing as I have spent any spare time this week reading essay notes for my GCSE class. Their coursework is a very important part of the course and a large percentage of their overall grade so it’s important they get chance to redraft their notes a few times. I’ve been marking them and giving them back to them but, for me, the worse part of my job is marking. I just don’t have the attention span for it! Despite only working three days, the amount of work I have to do out of lesson time, out of school time too, is enough for five days so I’m struggling with my time as I’ve also got a toddler to look after and a house to keep clean! Hoping I’ll get a handle on it soon.
Work, work and more work in nap times and after bedtime. Apart from that, I took Mini
R to Tumble Tots for the first time on Wednesday. I thought it would be a good idea as he loves climbing around and I was right, he loved it! We’re definitely going to sign up and i can’t wait to see how L develops every week. Watch this space for a full post on the balancing, climbing and tumbling!
Stereophonics! I booked tickets to see them in December with my big sister and eldest niece so I’ve been listening to some of their old albums. I love Word Gets Around and Performance and Cocktails, they remind me of my sixth form years!
I’m back on the Slimming World train and enjoying it. I got weighed on Monday and i’d lost 1.5lb over two weeks so i was surprised and pleased! This week i’ve planned my meals in advance and mostly stuck to it. I made my first ever cottage pie at the age of 31 and it was bloody lovely! We’ve also had Chinese 5 spice gammon and I enjoyed Slimming World burgers with cheese, salad and Slimming World chips on Friday night which felt naughty but wasn’t – perfect. I also found out and sampled Baked Oats – 35g porridge oats, 50ml milk, one egg and then whatever flavouring you like. I used vanilla essence and reduced sugar jam for one syn. It was so tasty and a lovely warm breakfast for a winters morning. I’m hoping my SW Mojo is back and hear to stay!
That’s my week: magic, marking and meals!
Hows your week been?
