I got this idea from Pushing The Moon so I really hope she doesn’t mind me stealing it. I thought it was a really nice idea. Ideally I’ll do it every week on a Saturday or Sunday but it’ll completely depend on what I’ve got going on and how much school work I have to do!
If you’ve read my previous post Strictly Factor you’ll know my life is full of crap TV. This week I’ve been keeping up with Big Brother, which is surprising as I’ve usually lost interest by now, but it’s keeping me hooked at the moment. Mainly because I find Farrah so vile! She has an argument and an answer for everything. She’s incredibly immature yet she spends her time telling others to “grow up”. I’ve also been watching Made in Chelsea on Netflix. I’m VERY behind, only on Season 4 (I think!).
Mini R is still hooked on In The Night Garden before bed and this week we were shocked to see The Wottingers on our screen! I think it’s the first time I have ever seen an episode about them…and they were bloody hiding from The Pontipines! There was also a rather hilarious episode regarding Mr Pontipine’s moustache that ended up on Mrs Pontipine. I would NOT have been happy if I had been her!
Mini R has also become a fan of Mr Tumble and the Twirliwoos. I try not to let him watch too much television but it is handy for when i need to get tea ready or go to the toilet!
Other blogs! Great for research and just to support the new interest in my life.
I also bought a magazine, something I haven’t done for ages, so I’ve read that in bed and caught up on some celebrity gossip. I know nothing about that world anymore. I wonder if it’s because I have a child and don’t have time to keep up with it all or I’m getting old and popular culture doesn’t interest me! I’m hoping its the first option!
Well it’s been the first week back to school after the Summer Holidays. We had two training days on Monday and Tuesday which meant that I ended each day with a headache! I used my brain far more than I had for the previous seven weeks. It got me fired up for teaching and then i had my two days off so that was a little weird! I enjoyed teaching on Friday though and it was nice to get back into it all. I’m just a little worried about the amount of work I’ll have, even though I am only working three days, I have a GCSE group and a BTEC group which take a lot of time and attention. To help with this, I bought some lovely new stationary from Paperchase….I’m a massive stationary geek!
In other news, Mini R had a hair cut! His first ever one! He was such a good boy, sitting (fairly) still and didn’t get upset at all, although I nearly did! They went a little short on the sides but at least he looks tidier. I do think that he looks older too. We’ve spent a lot of time playing with friends and made a return to F.A.B in Wakefield which was lovely as we spent every Wednesday morning there for the first 8 months of maternity leave. As you can see he made himself at home……….. What the picture doesn’t show is that he threw himself off the chair just after the picture was taken and cried his eyes out.
Last Saturday we had a lovely day out at Canon Hall Farm with Janma. Mini R got to test out his new Dino Backpack with reins and learnt that sheep say “Ba!”. We also learnt that cows go “moo” but he’s recently forgotten that and just saying “Ba!” to anything. The main problem I found with reins was that it is harder to direct them to where you want them to go. He wanted to look at a pen with a fake cow in it, rather than the huge pen full of sheep behind him! He stroked a rabbit and saw lots of pigs too than had a lovely time in the soft play.
My willpower has been terrible this week. I keep reminding myself that as long as I keep going to Slimming World I will be controlling my weight a little whereas, if I didn’t go, I’d completely go off the rails. I do, however, need to give myself a talking to and kick up the backside. I’ve been eating SW meals for breakfast, dinner and tea but inbetween I’ve been eating crap, absolute crap. I do not know what is wrong with me. Part of my lovely stationary included a meal planner which is magnetic and now stuck to my fridge. I’ve planned my meals for next week, I’ve done a food shop and I WILL stick to it!
Listening to my friends and family when they tell me I’ve come so far and to keep going with my Slimming World journey.
I’ve also been listening to Capital Radio on a morning before work, where I heard something a little sad. A report that said that social media can make young people depressed due to the pressure to keep up to “likes” etc. I was like “really?!”. One boy who was interviewed said he felt down if one picture that he posted didn’t get that many likes compare to others. I thought “How sad!” that their lives are defined by this. Social media can be a wonderful thing but it seems like it could have a negative effect on future generations and I worry about the influence it’ll have on Mini R. Maybe thats a topic for another post!
