One Afternoon in Wrenthorpe…

For my 30th birthday my best friends bought me a voucher for Ashley Scott Photography for a photo shoot and print. It was the perfect present because one and a) I’d just had my little boy (literally, he arrived on my birthday), 2 and b) we know Ash so we knew it would produce good quality pictures and be a relaxed experience and 3 and c) it was something I was going to arrange anyway so they saved me money and a job!

I wanted to wait until Mini R was older so he’d be able to interact more and his personality would come across more in the photographs. Selfishly, I also wanted to wait until I had lost some baby weight so we decided that the Summer Holidays would be a great time. Due to Ash being uber talented at what he does, and us being busy bees it took a while for us to find a day that we could both do but luckily the day we picked was a gorgeously sunny and hot Wednesday. I had a slight dilemma on the morning when I couldn’t decide what we should all wear! Should we be matching or co-ordinated? Where the outfits I had in mind going to clash? I did what any other girl would do, text my mummy friends a picture and asked for their opinion!

The location was Wrenthorpe Park, 7655683786_9074bb96bc_zsituated in the village were we live and also a place I have many happy memories from as a child myself. It’s got a great play area where we frequently take Mini R for a run around. He loves the climbing frame and the freedom of all the space to practice his walking and running. We found a quiet grassy area in the shade and just played.

Ash was fantastic with Mini R, there were no posey pictures, just natural shots of a family playing together! We managed to get Mini R to smile for some but he did spend some of his time looking confused at all the equipment and he loved the shiny reflecting circle that he was allowed to play with. Ash spent a lot of time laid on the grass with Mini R and, for a man with hay fever, that can’t have been overly comfortable! He didn’t direct us at all and just let us do what we’d normally do. The results are fantastic and I’m so pleased with them. Below are a few of my favourites but I’m still deciding which I want a print off!

*UPDATE: the hubby was bought a family photo shoot for a birthday present so we’re looking forward to doing another set of pics in the Summer, one year on from this. ☺️

  2. Its not selfish at all to want to loose some of the baby weight, we had some with Monkey when he was 10 days old and I avoided pretty much all the ones of me for that reason! Such a greta idea for a present I really love the one of him flying through the air very unusual. Lovely way to record memories. Thank you for joining us at #BloggerClubUK hope to see you again this week x

    • Ha ha yeah I’ve got a post scheduled for tomorrow but had to link up an old one coz I wasn’t sure if the new post was ready. Thanks, it’s shorter now and no blonde but a curling wand does the curls. They never used to stay in with straighteners. X
